Watamu & Malindi

Watamu is a small coastal town in Kenya, north of Mombasa. It’s known for Watamu Marine National Park and Reserve, and also is renowned worldwide for its natural beauty and boasts a rich marine life from the visiting Whale Sharks and Manta Rays that are seasonal visitors, November is best for spotting these animals. Watamu has 3 bays: Watamu, Blue Lagoon and Turtle. White Sandy beaches and natural beautiful coral gardens are the defining features. Seabirds, as well as green and hawksbill turtles, inhabit Mida Creek with its sand flats and mangrove forest. Inland, Arabuko-Sokoke Forest Reserve is home to elephants, monkeys and rare birdlife. 

Malindi is a town on Malindi Bay, in southeastern Kenya. It sits amid a string of tropical beaches dotted with hotels and resorts. Malindi Marine National Park is claimed to be the oldest marine park in Africa and it is about 118 km north of Mombasa and is protected and administered by the Kenya Wildlife Service. The Gede Ruins is a magnificent site to also visit that has the remains of an ancient Swahili town.
